Our hotel is located at the heart of the Wellawaya city. Wellawaya is a heavenly place at the foot of several mountains such as Ella and Poonagala. City area is surrounded by eye-catching paddy fields. From anywhere you enter this city you have to pass through these greenly paddy fields. In earlier stages like in 40s’ & 60’s whole city itself was covered with paddy fields. Later on, with development of the city these paddy fields were abandoned and later on buildings were built.
Our hotel was started in the year 1985 by late Mr. A. K. Hemachandra Kulatissa who was a reputed businessman in Wellawaya. At that time, he successfully owned a bakery and a retail store in the city. His first intention was to start a movie theater but somehow, he identified that there is a need of a hotel for the area. Only hotel remained in Wellawaya at that period was Wellawaya Rest House which was not enough to cater the demand. At that time, it was a great risk to start a venture like this. But somehow with the support of his family, friends and villagers he managed to start the business.
At that time our hotel was the largest hotel in Uva province.
